The Inaugural 'Great Macon Baking Week' to be Hosted in July in Macon
Friday, June 9th, 2023
Visit Macon has partnered with The Mill Hill Bakers Collective and Macon Arts Alliance to announce The Great Macon Baking Week will be held throughout the city of Macon from July 23-30. The inaugural celebration will highlight local bakeries and restaurants throughout Macon and their signature baked goods and desserts.
Visitors and the local community will be invited to grab a passport during The Great Macon Baking Week to guide you on a tour of confectionary delights in Macon. Each participating business on the tour will have a signature dish to try throughout the week, with the public being able to vote on their favorite dish. Anyone who tries five or more of the featured patisseries will be eligible to win multiple prizes. Passports will be available at the Downtown Visitors Center and at participating businesses.
Concluding the Baking Week on Sunday, July 30 will be The Central City Bake Off at the Mill Hill Community Arts Center. The Bake Off will feature local hobby & cottage food bakers facing off to win the title of Central City Bake Off Champion. The business with the most votes from The Great Macon Baking Week will also be announced during the event.
Baking Week is open to all brick and mortar businesses that would like to feature their ‘signature’ baked goods or dessert. Any business interested in participating, please contact Visit Macon before Friday, June 16 by emailing [email protected].
“Someone left the ovens on in Macon, Georgia! We are really excited to support this inaugural event!” says Marisa Rodgers, Director of Marketing for Visit Macon. “What a great way for the community to support Macon businesses during this challenging Summer month. It’s also a fantastic reason for our visitors to plan a full weekend to experience Macon, Georgia… just in time for Bragg Jam on July 29!”
