2022 Macon Film Festival - Official Selection Lineup and Schedule Announced

The Macon Film Festival is celebrating its 17th annual event this August. The festival will take place in Macon, Georgia, August 18th – 21st, with film screenings and events in multiple venues throughout the city.

Over 80 films from around the world are slated to be showcased during the four day festival. This year’s list of official selection films includes Narrative Features, Documentaries, Narrative Shorts, LGBTQ Features and Shorts, Student Shorts, Music Documentaries and Fulldome Shorts. The 2022 lineup also features Georgia Made Shorts.

“The festival lineup this year has a little something for everyone. From thought-provoking documentaries, impactful shorts, entertaining features and incredible immersive fulldome content from around the world, the festival is excited to provide this year’s independent filmmakers an opportunity to share their art with our festival audience,” said festival programmer Tabitha Lynne Walker.

The festival schedule and a complete listing of 2022 official selection films are now available on maconfilmfestival.com. The online schedule allows attendees the opportunity to curate their own unique festival experience while also following festival announcements about soon to be released special screenings, workshops, filmmaker guests and other festival events. 

This year’s festival will kick off with a series of fulldome screenings at the Museum of Arts & Sciences and a special free screening event on Thursday, August 18th, at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame. Festival attendees will be able to watch independent films throughout the festival weekend as well as attend workshops and parties at additional venues throughout Macon including the Douglass Theatre, Theatre Macon and The Grand Opera House.
