Tampa, Florida-based Mainsail Lodging & Development and IDP Properties announced today the appointment of Stephan Amesoeder as general manager of the 94-room boutique hotel that will add a new angle to downtown Macon, Georgia (401 Cotton Avenue), in early 2022. An accomplished hotel industry veteran who recently relocated to Macon to be closer to family, Amesoeder will oversee the hiring of new staff, day-to-day operations, and guest and employee satisfaction at the 11-story hotel. Situated on the iconic wedge formed by Cherry and First Streets, and Cotton Avenue, across from the newly designed Rosa Parks Square, the hotel will be the first in Macon’s Historic Central Business District. Also the city’s first member of the Marriott Tribute Portfolio, the hotel’s name, branding, and other details will be revealed during an invitation-only community event scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 22.

A 30-year hospitality industry veteran, Amesoeder was most recently general manager at the historic Andover Inn in Andover, Massachusetts, a full-service, luxury boutique hotel, where he led his team to multiple distinguished service awards during his eight-year tenure. His esteemed career includes positions as director of food & beverage and general manager with various luxury properties by Wyndham, Doubletree, and Sonesta International, in several northeast cities, New Orleans, Louisiana, Southampton, Bermuda and other markets. Amesoeder is a self-described foodie who enjoys using his European training to cook for friends, family and any good cause. An avid outdoors enthusiast, he also enjoys volunteer work, the fine arts, and watersports of all kinds.

Originally completed in 1941, the historic structure is undergoing a comprehensive hotel conversion to join Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio, an exceptional collection of independent hotels and resorts with unique personalities and spirit. To celebrate the building’s original character and historic significance, many key architectural elements, finishes and furnishings are being preserved or incorporated into the new hotel’s various spaces, including guest rooms, meeting venues, a signature chef-driven restaurant, a sixth-floor rooftop bar and lounge, and an eclectic coffee and wine shop.
