Sen. John F. Kennedy (R – Macon) has been appointed by Lt. Governor Casey Cagle to serve as chair of the Senate Stroke Trauma Center Study Committee.
“We all know someone in our families or our local communities that has been affected by a stroke,” said Sen. Kennedy. “The goal of this committee is to ensure that Georgia is leading the way when it comes to not only stroke treatment, but also prevention. My colleagues and I will work with experts and stakeholders to determine the best steps forward to develop a top of the line trauma center that can serve citizens throughout the state.”
“These study committees are invaluable resources for the legislature as we seek to build a stronger, more economically productive state – in which all Georgians are rewarded for their hard work,” said Lt. Governor Cagle. “Our chairmen and committee members will thoroughly evaluate these issues to determine how the state of Georgia can maximize our potential. I am confident Sen. Kennedy will bring forward new ideas to build a better Georgia as we prepare for our next legislative session and beyond.”
Sen. Kennedy sponsored Senate Resolution 412 which created the Senate Stoke Trauma Center Study Committee. The study committee will be comprised of four members of the Senate who will examine the need for a stroke trauma center in Georgia. The study committee is responsible for submitting a report of findings and recommendations, including proposed legislation, by December 1, 2017.
