Georgia Employers’ Association Announces Managerial Leadership Workshop Series

Georgia Employers’ Association and the Focus Group are pleased to announce the 2017 schedule for the five session workshop series, Leadership that Enhances Organizational Results. The course is designed for organizational leaders, managers, and supervisors who want to improve their ability to achieve business results and meet their performance objectives.
The half-day workshops will be facilitated by Pete Tosh, founder of The Focus Group, a Middle Georgia based management consulting firm. The five sessions cover current management topics and focus on specific leadership skills and methods that lead to management success.
Topics for the 2017 workshops include:
1. Progressing from a Traditional Manager to a Strategic Leader – January 27, 2017
The differences between an operational management style and a strategic leadership style. Utilizing a strategic framework, including SWOT analysis, the Service Gaps model, and other strategic tools.
2. Benefiting from Performance Management: Perfomance Appraisals, Coaching, and Counseling – February 22, 2017
How and why a leader’s style impacts performance. Coaching and counseling practices that achieve sustained improvements. Techniques for performance appraisals.
3. Building a High Performance Team – March 10, 2017
Why some teams perform more effectively. The building blocks required to for top team performance. Participants will use an assessment tool to identify issues that limit their team’s performance potential.
4. Becoming an Engagement Coach – April 21, 2017
The importance of engaged employees and the difference between employee engagement and employee satisfaction. Managers’ impact on employee engagement and initiatives that leaders can implement to satisfy employees’ key engagement needs.
5. Managing Toxic Employees and others with Attitude Issues – May 12, 2017
The human and financial costs of toxic employees. Organizational reactions that frequently don’t work and effective approaches for addressing and preventing employee toxicity.
The half-day workshops will be held from 9 AM to 12PM in Macon beginning January 27. Detailed information and online registration are available on the Georgia Employers’ Association website at georgiaemployers.org/leadership-series/. The course is open to GEA members and other Georgia businesses.
