MEDC Named One of the Top 4 Economic Development Agencies in Georgia

The Macon Economic Development Commission has been named one of the Top 4 Economic Development Agencies in Georgia as published in Southern Business & Development Magazine. Members of the Southern Economic Development Roundtable selected winners in thirty categories for each Southern state. The SEDR is an invitation only group of economic developers, educators, site selection consultants and CEOs who meet annually to discus issues relative to economic development in the American South.
Macon Economic Development Commission was recognized along with three other organizations, Augusta EDA, Greater Rome Chamber and Invest Atlanta, as Georgia's Best Local Economic Development Agencies.
"It's always great to be recognized by your peers and those you work with on economic development projects. With our partners we strive to provide professional services to the economic development community, statewide, nationally and internationally" said MEDC board chairman, Leonard Bevill.
President and CEO of the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce and MEDC President, Mike Dyer said, "This award is a testament to the professionalism and collaboration of our economic development team and partners, the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority, Macon Water Authority, Bibb County School system and Macon-Bibb County government, just to name a few."
"We are honored to have received this recognition and are very proud of our economic development team," added MEDC Sr. Vice President, Pat Topping.
Other categories in which Macon was mentioned were the Best Cities for African-American Business Ownership and Best Metro Aerospace Locations, Best Place in Georgia to Hire Veterans and the International Cherry Blossom Festival was mentioned as one of Georgia's top Non-Sporting Events.
