Phillip Bryant Appointed President & CEO of Boys & Girls Club of Central Georgia

Deanna Jones, Chief Volunteer Officer and Board Chair for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia, is pleased to announce the recent appointment of new president and chief executive officer, Phillip Bryant. Mr. Bryant joins the Boys & Girls Clubs with over 20 years of non-profit experience and has most recently served as the Southeast Regional Director of Development & Field Operations with the American Kidney Fund in Atlanta, Georgia.   There his responsibilities included leadership and supervision of regional personnel, and overseeing resource development and field operations for eight states in the southeast region including GA, FL, SC, NC, TN, AL, MS & LA. Additionally, Phillip has also held several leadership positions with the YMCA, including CEO, District Vice President and Executive Director, and with the Boy Scouts of America as District Director and Resident Camp Director over the past 20 years. Mr. Bryant’s education background includes under graduate course work at Florida State University and Georgia Southwestern State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Education, and graduate level course work at American Public University, where his is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree. 

Of his new position, Phillip says, “Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Georgia is helping to shape the future leaders of tomorrow throughout Central Georgia. I’m extremely honored to have been selected to lead such an important community organization, and excited to be able to contribute to such an important work.  I look forward to working with the highly committed board volunteers, staff and community members who work for the youth of our communities.” 

Chief Volunteer Officer and member of the search team, Deanna Jones, stated, "We are excited about the opportunity to have Mr. Bryant serve our children in the Central Georgia area. He will be an asset to the community. He has the capability to lead us to the next level of impact as a regional organization and will continue the Club legacy of changing lives and improving the quality of lives in our area as we have over the past 75 Years." 

Mr. Bryant replaces former CEO Lee Wagner, whose last day at the Boys and Girls Club was in July. Phillip’s tenure as President and CEO began on Monday, September 29, 2014.

Boys & Girls Club of Central Georgia is an affiliate of  Boys & Girls Club of America. The efficient use of financial resources has won national recognition for both the national organization and 4000 affiliated local Clubs. . The “Philanthropy 400” report, provided by The Chronicle of Philanthropy, ranked  Boys & Girls Clubs nationally among the top of all non-profit organizations, while placing BGCA in the No. 1 position among youth organizations..

Forbes, SmartMoney, Newsweek and U.S. News & World Report have all ranked Boys & Girls Clubs of America among the top charitable organizations in America based on cost-effective use of donor dollars. WORTH magazine has ranked BGCA as one of America’s top one hundred charities, based on financial efficiency, strength of reputation, and program effectiveness. Another organization taking notice is Charity Navigator, which placed Boys & Girls Clubs of America on their “10 of the Best Charities Everyone’s Heard Of” list.
