The Community Foundation of Central Georgia today announced 21 new projects to be funded by the Downtown Challenge, now in its fourth round of awarding grants that put game-changing ideas into action for Downtown Macon. The three-year, $3 million grant initiative launched in January 2016 and has now awarded over $1.8 million in funding.

Graphic Packaging International to Invest $136M in Macon-Bibb County

The Georgia Department of Economic Development and the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority announced that Graphic Packaging International, a leading company in the design and manufacturing of packaging for commercial products, will invest $136 million in the modernization of its Macon mill. GPI employs more than 1,330 employees in Georgia, and the Macon mill investment will help retain more than 460 manufacturing jobs.

Young Gamechangers Present Big Ideas to Milledgeville on December 8th

For the last five months 50 of Georgia’s brightest young professionals have researched Milledgeville’s history, met with community leaders, toured campuses and neighborhoods, interviewed retirees, and re-imagined downtown in their quest to come up with big ideas and innovative solutions to some of the area’s most persistent challenges. Their hard work will be revealed when they present their final recommendations on Friday, December 8 from 2-4 pm.
