Mercer Law School’s Association of Women Law Students (AWLS) will host its annual Lauren Giddings 5K on Saturday, Nov. 8 on Cruz Plaza on Mercer’s undergraduate Macon campus, with the race kicking off at 10:00 a.m.

The principal purpose of the Lauren Giddings 5K is to honor and remember 2011 graduate Lauren Giddings by awarding scholarships to third-year law students who are members of AWLS, an organization in which Lauren was deeply involved. Lauren Giddings was a Mercer Law student and dedicated AWLS member who passed away in 2011. She is remembered for her passion for giving back, including her diligence with the Public Defender Clinic. AWLS hosts a yearly 5K in honor of her love for running. Proceeds from this event will contribute to scholarships awarded to the most involved and academically dedicated graduating members of Mercer AWLS to supplement the costs of preparing for the bar exam.

AWLS Fall Philanthropy Chair Logan Dellacona said, “It is truly an honor to be a part of this 5K tradition which keeps Lauren’s memory alive in the Macon community she loved so dearly.”

Registration and Event Details

• Date & Time: Saturday, November 8, at 10:00 a.m.

• Location: Cruz Plaza, Mercer University undergraduate Macon campus.

• Registration Fee: $30 per runner.

• Registration: To run (or walk) the race, you may register here or email [email protected]. Walk-up registration is available the day of the race.

• Participants: Runners and walkers of all ages are welcome, and pets are welcome.

• Awards: Prizes will be awarded to overall male/female and first-place male/female in age groups: under 18, 18-34, 35-49, and 50+.

• Inclement Weather: There will be a back-up plan in case of inclement weather.
