Friday, December 1st, 2023
Continuing an upward trend, Middle Georgia State University (MGA) grew its enrollment this fall by nearly 5 percent over last year.
MGA's fall 2023 enrollment reached 8,039 students, according to the University System of Georgia’s official report released November 14. That’s a 4.6 percent gain. The University System of Georgia as a whole saw an enrollment gain of 3 percent.
MGA saw an increase of 27.7 percent in students enrolled in master’s degree or graduate certificate programs – the second highest percentage growth in the University System in that category. Dual enrollment of high school students at MGA increased 27.6 percent. Undergraduate enrollment at MGA increased overall by 1.2 percent.
“We are gratified that the attractiveness and relevance of our degree programs and campus life are resulting in substantive enrollment growth for Middle Georgia State,” said Dr. Stephen Schultheis, vice president for Enrollment Management. “This positive trend is a result of collaborative efforts across the University, from faculty and staff to administration. It underscores Middle Georgia State's position as a premier choice for higher education in this region and our commitment to helping students achieve their career and personal life goals.”
MGA was one of 23 out of the 26 University System institutions that saw enrollment increases this fall. The University System’s 3 percent enrollment growth over last fall reversed two years of post-pandemic declines.
The enrollment numbers were released in USG’s annual fall semester enrollment report, which analyzes enrollment data by institution, age, gender, race and ethnicity, in-state, out-of-state and international students.
