The community is invited to join Atrium Health Navicent Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital at 6 p.m. Dec. 8 for an annual holiday tradition, “A Night of Lights,” the lighting of the Children’s Tree.

Weather permitting, the tree lighting ceremony will take place outside the children’s hospital, located at 700 Spring Street in Macon, and is open to the community. The event will also be livestreamed on Facebook at www.facebook.com/AtriumHealthNavicent. In the event of rain or severe weather, the event will be held indoors and will not be open to the public.

Thanks to sponsors Citizens of Georgia Power Heart of Georgia chapter and Walmart, this year’s event will also include the addition of luminaries placed in the children’s hospital’s windows on the night of the event. A luminary will be placed in honor of each of the hospital’s young patients.

The tree will be lit by two young cancer survivors who became friends while undergoing treatment and playing together in a hospital playroom.

“A Night of Lights is a beautiful holiday tradition that celebrates our young patients, and their loved ones, while sharing the joy of the season with our community,” said Atrium Health Navicent Chief Nurse Executive Tracey Blalock. “Thanks to Citizens of Georgia Power Heart of Georgia Chapter and Walmart for sponsoring luminaries this year, which will serve as a symbol of hope for our patients.”
