Colony Bank today announced that Shawn C. Mercer has joined Colony Financial Advisors, a financial advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC, as Senior Vice President and Financial Advisor. Mercer will be based in an office located at 118 South Wilkinson Street Suite 4 in Milledgeville. 

Mercer has 21 years of wealth management and banking industry experience. Most recently, he served as Vice President, Financial Consultant for Truist Wealth. Previously he served as a Vice President, Financial Advisor at BB&T, prior to its acquisition by Truist, and as a Financial Advisor at Wells Fargo Advisors. Mercer holds an Associate in General Studies from Georgia Military College, a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology from Georgia College, and a Master of Business Administration from Georgia College. In addition, he earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification in 2008.

Mercer is a lifelong resident of Milledgeville and has one daughter with his wife, Amanda. He is an active member of St. Innocent Orthodox Church in Macon.
