Spillers Orthodontics is proud to announce the recipients of the 2022 Spillers Orthodontics Scholarship. High school seniors Preston Prater and Conner Shelton, both former patients, were selected from numerous applicants. Each will receive $1,000 to support their respective college educations.

“What bright, well-rounded students these two are!” says Dr. Don Spillers. “I am pleased that the future of our community will benefit from the leadership of people like Preston and Conner. They will make a positive impact wherever they go, and we’re excited to help them get there.”

The Spillers Orthodontics Scholarship was created by Dr. Don Spillers as a way to give back to his patients. Without scholarship funds, Dr. Spillers could not have completed the schooling needed to become an orthodontist. He told himself that if he ever had the opportunity, he would start a scholarship program that would benefit students who are not only working hard in the classroom, but who are also working hard to make a difference in their community and in the world.

Selected by an impartial board, Prater and Shelton were chosen based on their achievement, leadership and service throughout their high school years. They also received excellent recommendations.
A resident of Kathleen and Perry High School graduate, Prater will attend Auburn University in Auburn, Ala. Shelton, a resident of Perry, and graduate of The Westfield School, will attend The Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.

This is the ninth consecutive year that Spillers Orthodontics has offered scholarships to high school graduates who are either current or former patients. Applications for the 2023 scholarship are due March 1, 2023. For more information about the Spillers Orthodontics Scholarship, or to access the scholarship application, please visit DrSpillers.com.
