Warner Robins Sees Hike in Unemployment Rate

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday that Warner Robins unemployment rate went up three-tenths to 2.5 percent. A year ago, the rate was 4.7 percent. Despite this, Warner Robins saw all-time highs in labor force, number of employed, and jobs in the month of October.

"We are continuing to see all-time low unemployment rates across the state along with job growth in all of our statistical areas,” said Commissioner Mark Butler. “The focus now is getting more Georgians into the workforce to fill these critical positions, particularly as we gear up for a strong holiday employment season.”

The labor force increased in Warner Robins by 903 and ended the month with 89,385. That number is up 1,920 when compared to October of 2020.

Warner Robins finished the month with 87,133 employed residents.  That number increased by 621 over the month and is up by 3,763 when compared to the same time a year ago.

Warner Robins ended October with 79,900 jobs. That number increased by 1,200 from September to October and is up by 3,500 compared to this time last year.

The number of unemployment claims went up by 149 percent in Warner Robins in October. When compared to last October, claims were down by about 54 percent.

Employ Georgia, the GDOL’s online job listing service at employgeorgia.com showed about 1,457 active job postings in Warner Robins for October.
