Witherite Law Group to Present Large Donation to Fund Local After-School Program

In celebration of the 22nd Annual National Lights on After-school Week, Witherite Law Group and 1-800-TruckWreck, will present a check for more than $36,000 to the historic Tubman Museum to fund an entire semester of the after-school component of its “Pipeline to Success” program. The check presentation will take place on October 26, 2021, from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. at the Tubman Museum (310 Cherry Street, Macon, GA 31201). This media day will highlight the kids participating in cultural, educational, and leadership activities, a curriculum they will now be able to experience daily thanks to the generosity of The Witherite Law Group.

program. They have already registered thirty-six new students, with a vision to serve dozens more. |
“There continues to be a direct correlation between literacy rates, school dropout rates, and crime. Due
to the increasing crime rate in Macon, the time to step in to protect the future generation is now,” said
Jamiah Walker, education director, Tubman Museum. “With the generous donation from Amy Witherite
and the support from other local foundations, the Pipeline to Success program is designed to help
students successfully complete and master grade-level tasks, which has a direct link to future success.”
The after-school program officially started on September 20 and will primarily serve students from Bruce, Veterans, and Heritage Elementary Schools. The program will consist of cultural enrichment and
in support of the program. The community and the kids need this program and will greatly benefit from
mentoring, along with motivational activities and homework assistance. These areas have proven to
help students gain cultural understanding and grasp school subject concepts better, helping them improve their grades and overall performance in school.
The goal of the after-school program is to provide educational and cultural support and resources, decrease crime and bullying, and address the social and emotional needs of the students enrolled in Bibb County Schools. These goals are particularly important for the 82 percent that are minority-race students from underserved areas of the community.

Many of them have progressed from barely making it through their classes to thriving, learning, and leading. The museum's comprehensive program exposes children to their culture, learning techniques, and mentors, which has proven to boost their confidence and help them flourish in school. The after-school program is free for students to attend. Students may register online to participate. |
