NewTown Macon’s Tour Of Progress Offers Opportunity To Tour New Hotels And More

Wednesday, October 13th, 2021

WHAT: NewTown Macon’s annual Tour of Progress is a tour of downtown Macon that provides a behind-the-scenes glimpse of current, completed, and future downtown projects. This year’s Tour of Progress will be presented as a self-guided tour. Decals with QR codes will be placed on the sidewalk in front of each tour stop with a link to exciting information about the featured project or business.

During the tour, tour-goers will be able to go inside some of the featured stops, including a nine-room boutique hotel that is currently under construction, a decorated and furnished loft at the Barfield Lofts, and Hotel Forty Five. Additionally, this year’s event features more black-owned businesses and projects than it ever has in previous years.

Tours begin at A Brooke Haven Lounge. Tour-goers can pick up a map between 4:00pm and 6:00pm. Upon completing the tour, participants are invited to the patio of the Macon City Auditorium for a FREE outdoor, socially distant reception featuring music by the Bozwellz.

At 7:00pm, the Partners in Progress Awards ceremony will begin. Partners in Progress awards are given to individuals, businesses, and organizations that have made a positive impact in downtown Macon over the last year.
