Local and Regional Artists Illuminate Downtown Macon
Tuesday, August 10th, 2021
Today Dashboard U.S. and NewTown Macon announced their third activation of Bright City -- a major public art installation in Macon, GA, featuring images by 14 local and regional photographers. Artists include DSTO Moore (Macon, GA) Marryam MOMA (Atlanta, GA), Taylor James Newton (Macon, GA), and more.
This year, artists will explore the theme WILD. Their photographs capture the beauty, serenity, fragility, and ferocity of nature as it relates to Macon. Each artist in the exhibition shows that through their lens they can transform the everyday into something curious and illuminate the WILD side of this booming Georgia city.
In addition to the photo exhibition, Bright City WILD will also include a public installation by Ruth Stanford. Entitled, In the End Only the Birds are Free, Stanford’s large scale models of birds glide through a Macon alleyway. An opening event will take place on Friday, August 6 between 7-10pm at NewTown Macon and 2nd Street Lane.
Bright City WILD is curated & produced by Dashboard, presented by NewTown Macon, and made possible with support from The Community Foundation of Central Georgia and South Arts Cross Sector.
The show features: William Brookins Jr., Andrew Carter, Heidi Clinite, Taylor Hembree, Curtis Hertwig, Zharie Hightower, Seth Llyod, Melissa Macker, Marryam MOMA, DSTO Moore, Tyler James Newton, Matthew Smith, Ruth Stanford, Charlotte Watts, and Mike Young.
