Georgia DOT Awards Five Contracts for New Resurfacing, Bridge Projects in West Central Georgia

The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced it awarded five contracts for new projects in District 3 (West Central Georgia region). The projects were presented for bid on Apr. 16, 2021 and awards made on Apr. 30, 2021.
The projects are:

Dooly, Pulaski and Wilcox Counties: the project involves the resurfacing and shoulder rehabilitation of 16.421 miles of Georgia 257 beginning south of Georgia 215 and extending to Georgia 27. The contract was awarded to The Scruggs Company of Hahira for $3.3 million. The project is expected to be completed by the end of March, 2022.

Harris County: the project involves the resurfacing and shoulder rehabilitation of 9.057 miles of Georgia 116 beginning west of Georgia 219 and extending to west of Georgia 1. The contract was awarded to C. W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc. of Marietta for $2.5 million. The project is expected to be completed by the end of March, 2022.

Monroe County: the project involves the resurfacing and shoulder rehabilitation of 6.322 miles of Georgia 74 beginning west of Georgia 7 and extending to east of Georgia 42. The contract was awarded to C. W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc. of Marietta for $1.9 million. The project is expected to be completed by the end of March, 2022.

Sumter County: the project involves the resurfacing and shoulder rehabilitation of 8.530 miles of Georgia 27 beginning at Hospital Street and extending to west of Georgia 3. The contract was awarded to Robinson Paving Company of Columbus for $2.55 million. The project is expected to be completed by the end of March, 2022.

Sumter County: the project involves the construction of a 0.199 mile long bridge and approaches on Tallent Store Road/CR 306 over Little Muckalee Creek. The contract was awarded to Southern Concrete Construction Co., Inc. of Albany for $1.7 million. The project is expected to be completed by the end of April, 2022.
These five projects were among 21 statewide to be contracted on Apr. 30, 2021. Information on schedules, lane closures and detours will be made available in advance of construction activities.
