Demand for Houses in Macon Continues to Soar. Why Aren’t More New Homes Being Built?

Any way you look at it, it’s more difficult to buy a home in Macon than it was last year. And more expensive.
According to data from Mid Georgia MLS, in February 2020 there were more than 521 homes for sale in Macon. This February, there were just over 300 available. The average sales price in 2020 was $141,550; this year, it skyrocketed to $179,350.
