Having assessed the overall academic quality of more than 1,641 online programs, U.S. News ranks Wesleyan’s Online Bachelor’s in Business Program 65^th in the nation and their Online Bachelor’s Programs overall 256^th best in the nation. Wesleyan’s ranks are particularly impressive considering the College introduced online programs less than two years ago to include business, accounting, and applied psychology. Wesleyan’s trademark small-class-sizes are taught mostly by full-time faculty and feature synchronous collaboration with instructors and classmates. 

According to U.S. News, the vast majority of students enrolled in online degree programs have earned at least some college credit. Rather than first-time college students, they are more likely to be working professionals in their 20s to 40s looking to advance in or change their careers. Consequently, the factors U.S. News selected to make comparisons between programs did not include measures only applicable to teenage applicants like high school grades and standardized test scores. Instead, they chose factors that weigh how these programs are being delivered and their effectiveness at awarding affordable degrees in a reasonable amount of time. Factors in the rankings include student engagement, services and technologies available to students, faculty credentials and training, as well as expert opinion on the academic quality of programs. 

Earlier this year, U.S. News ranked Wesleyan 149^th in National Liberal Arts Colleges whose focus is almost exclusively on undergraduate education and award at least 50% of their degrees in the arts and sciences, and 120^th in Top Performers in Social Mobility. Social mobility “evaluates which schools best serve underrepresented students and analyzes enrollment and graduation rates of low-income students with Pell Grants as a proxy.”
