Macon Arts Alliance Announces 2020 Cultural Award Recipients

The annual Macon Arts Alliance Cultural Awards recognize individuals, organizations, and businesses who have made significant contributions to the cultural life of Central Georgia through their work or philanthropic efforts. This year’s Cultural Award recipients are 

·      Bike Walk Macon

·      Scott Mitchell of Travis Jean Emporium 

·      Storytellers Macon

·      Stratford Academy

Recognizing the unique challenges of 2020, Macon Arts Alliance is also presenting Creative Impact Awards to honor projects and events that were implemented in response to either the global COVID-19 pandemic or that promoted racial equity.

“This year the arts have played a significant role in getting us through the COVID-19 pandemic and in amplifying the need for racial equity across the country”, said Julie Wilkerson, Executive Director of Macon Arts Alliance. “We want to recognize those who responded to the challenges of 2020 with creativity and innovation.”

Recipients of the Macon Arts Alliance 2020 Creative Impact Awards are

·      Broadway Does Cabaret (Grand Opera House)

·      Frontline Faces (Micah Goguen)

·      Macon Freedom for All Solidarity Walk (Nancy Cleveland and Rachelle Wilson)

·      Play it Forward (Jazz Association of Macon)

·      Pop-up on Poplar Music Series and Bright City (Newtown Macon)

·      Second Friday Drive Thru Art Gallery (Triangle Arts Macon)
