Macon-Bibb Fire Chief Marvin Riggins Retires after 41+ Years of Service

The Macon-Bibb County Fire Department hosted two days of events to honor Chief Marvin Riggins as he retires after more than 41 years of distinguished service. The opening ceremony was held at Headquarters Fire Station on Wednesday, December 16, and it can be watched on the Department’s Facebook page by clicking here.  

“We saw people at their absolute worst, and we tried to make it a little better. Across this country, our community is known for you all,” Chief Riggins told the assembled firefighters.  

“Thank you, Chief, for being a hands-on leader. Thank you for all your service, all your dedication to this organization,” said Assistant Chief Shane Edwards before they asked Chief Riggins to unveil a special display in his honor. 

“One of the best things I ever did was to appoint Marvin Riggins as Chief,” Mayor Reichert told the assembled guests. “Nobody can doubt his commitment to this organizations. His expertise in every facet of this operation is absolutely incredible.”
