A Milledgeville Garden Club representative and Allied Arts Director Brian Renko, visited the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville and personally delivered Christmas Cards with spending money as part of a project started by the Milledgeville Garden Club.

They were greeted by Director, Dennis Mize and gave over 130 cards to him to be distributed to the veterans who reside at the Milledgeville facility. The cards had been carefully decorated and signed with thoughtful messages by Allied Arts staff members and Georgia College students along with citizens throughout the community. “It was so nice to see these hand decorated cards for our veterans here in Milledgeville” Director, Dennis Mize said.

Once the cards were ready, they were stuffed into envelopes with cash that was donated by the Milledgeville Garden Club, the Civic Woman’s Club of Milledgeville, the Milledgeville Lions Club, The Daughters of the American Revolution and the Colonial Dames with other community members. The envelopes will be distributed at the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville. “It’s wonderful that other service clubs here in Milledgeville have joined together with the Milledgeville Garden Club project to make this year special for our veterans” Milledgeville Garden Club member Sue Wright said.

“Allied Arts was delighted to partner with the Milledgeville Garden Club project and thanks to the service clubs for providing spending money with the cards over the holidays, I hope this brings our veterans some cheer. This is the second year in a row we’ve partnered with Milledgeville Garden Club and we hope to continue this tradition in the future” says director Brian Renko.
