The Bibb County School District was one of three districts statewide that recently received a Project AWARE grant. This grant, to be used over the course of five years, will fund additional onsite mental health services at selected District schools. Each year, the District will receive $360,000 for a total of $1.8 million over the five-year period.

“We are excited about receiving this grant for our students, schools and families,” said Jamie Cassady, Assistant Superintendent for Student Affairs. “We recognize these times have been very challenging for many of our families, and this is a way that we, as a school district, can provide support.”

Within the selected schools, the grant will provide mental health training for staff. The funds will also allow for the addition of mental health clinicians and other types of support for the schools and the surrounding communities.
