Staff Report

October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and the Bibb County School District will recognize this designation by launching a new bullying prevention program. The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program will be introduced in the District’s middle schools with a launch event during the week of October 19-23.

“The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program is the most researched and best-known bullying prevention program available today,” said Curlandra Smith, the District’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports Coordinator. “The program is designed to improve peer relations and make schools safer, more positive places for students to learn and develop.”

School staff that serve on each school’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) team received training for Olweus implementation earlier this year. Each school’s launch event will be held virtually and will help inform students about the details of the program.
