OrthoGeorgia of Macon Welcomes Maharsh Patel, MD

Maharsh Patel, MD, Fellowship Trained in Hand & Upper Extremity Orthopaedic Surgery, joins OrthoGeorgia and will be practicing full time in our Macon office located at 3708 Northside Drive. 

Dr. Patel earned his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology along with a minor in Religious Studies from the University of Georgia in Athens, GA, graduating summa cum laude. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, graduating summa cum laude. He completed his five-year orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL followed by a fellowship in Hand & Upper Extremity at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. 

Dr. Patel is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He has authored multiple scientific articles and book chapters ranging from disorders of the shoulder, elbow, and hand and has presented these on both regional and national levels. He has a particular interest in peripheral nerve surgery, Dupuytren’s disease, and treatment of shoulder, elbow, and hand arthritis including joint replacements. Dr. Patel’s interests also include treating sports injuries including rotator cuff tears/tendonitis, elbow and thumb ligament reconstruction, tendon transfers, arthroscopic surgery of the upper extremity, and fractures of the upper extremity in all ages.

Dr. Patel is originally from Macon, GA and is excited about returning to his hometown.

“My mission is to help restore function and improve the quality of life of people with upper extremity issues involving the shoulder, elbow, or hand. The hand and upper extremity are extremely important in everything we do in our day to day lives and together, we can make sure that patients can do the activities they enjoy and live their lives the way they desire” says Dr. Patel.
