Board Gives Tentative Approval of Rollback of Millage Rate

On Tuesday, August 4, Board members tentatively approved a millage rate for Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 of 18.493. This reflects a decrease from FY 2020 of .321 mill. This will be the fourth consecutive year that Board members have voted to decrease the millage rate.

Before the Board may adopt a final millage rate, Georgia law requires a public hearing to be held to allow the public an opportunity to express their opinions. Due to COVID-19, the public hearing will be held virtually and is scheduled for Thursday, August 13, at 5 p.m. Citizens may access the virtual meeting by visiting www.bcsdk12.net, and clicking on “About Us” and “Board of Education Agendas.” Those who wish to request to address the Board at the public hearing should sign up by Thursday, August 13, at 5 p.m., using this link: https://bit.ly/3i6GfDl

Board Authorizes Purchase of Temperature Screening Kiosks

On Tuesday, August 4, Board members voted to approve the purchase of 75 temperature screening kiosks. The kiosks serve as a terminal which contains HAT (High Accuracy Temperature)/EST (Elevated Skin Temperature) screening ability. The kiosk can quickly measure skin-surface temperature and notify the user about abnormal readings. For more information, click here. 

Board OKs Purchase of Water Bottle Refill Stations

On Tuesday, August 4, Board members voted to approve the purchase of water bottle refill stations. There will be 200 bottle refill stations that will retrofit into existing water fountains in the District. These bottle refill stations will allow the District to discontinue utilizing the traditional water fountains, but students and staff will be able to use as a contactless water refill stations for their daily needs.
