Yesterday, U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) and Congressman Austin Scott (Ga-08) visited Robins Air Force Base (AFB), home to the Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS), to meet with base leadership and hear about the base’s priorities and needs.

“The over 23,000 men and women at Robins Air Force Base play a pivotal role in supporting our national security,” said Loeffler. “As home to Team JSTARS, Robins provides crucial support for our Combatant Commanders around the world. It also serves as the headquarters for the Air Force Reserve Command and as a hub for maintenance and repairs on critical weapons systems and logistical support for the entire Air Force.

“As the Senate continues its work on the Fiscal Year 2021 National Defense Authorization Act, I’m grateful for the opportunity to hear directly from base leadership about the resources and support they need to fulfill their missions. I will continue to ensure our brave men and women in uniform have all the resources they need to be successful.”

Background:

Loeffler is supportive of continuing JSTARS in order to prevent any gaps in capability as the Air Force develops the new Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS), which the Air Force has committed to hosting at Robins AFB.

She recently joined Senator Perdue in sending a letter to the Secretary of the Air Force expressing concern that the Air Force did not meet a statutory deadline to submit key information to Congress on the development of the ABMS platform. Loeffler also helped secure additional funding for the JSTARS fleet in the FY21 NDAA, which the Senate will consider when it returns from the current state work period.
