Fifty years ago, several hundred thousand rock ‘n roll fans converged on Byron, Georgia, for the 2nd Atlanta International Pop Festival. Held over the July 4 weekend of 1970, more than 30 acts performed, including the Allman Brothers Band, Jimi Hendrix, Grand Funk Railroad, B.B. King and Bob Seger. The festival took place in the area around the Middle Georgia Raceway, at the intersection of US Highway 41 and Georgia 49.

First produced for the 30th anniversary of the pop festival in 2000, this anniversary retrospective has been updated for the 50th anniversary. The program will help launch a new channel on Thursday, July 2, www.middlegapodcasts.podbean.com
