Historic Macon Unveils New Version of Popular Flea Market
Wednesday, May 27th, 2020
No socializing? No problem!
Historic Macon had to cancel its April Flea Market when the coronavirus pandemic forced shelter-in-place orders. Now, with those restrictions easing, HMF is launching a new version of the sale, but one that maintains appropriate social distancing.
Beginning Wednesday, June 3, Historic Macon’s warehouse will be open to the public, but participants will have to preregister on an online event-planning site in order to shop.
June 3 will be a VIP shopping event, giving early birds first dibs on all the goodies in the HMF warehouse. There will be two shopping windows that day: 5 to 6:30 p.m., and 6:30 to 8 p.m. Just 10 tickets will be sold for each period in order to observe social distancing.
Tickets for that day are $50 and can be purchased on Eventbrite.com (https://bit.ly/2A9npe0). You’ll also be able to find the link to buy a ticket on Historic Macon’s Facebook page and on its website, historicmacon.org.
On June 10, 17 and 24, entry to the Flea Market will be open to the public free of charge from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. Again, prospective shoppers must preregister on Eventbrite ((https://bit.ly/2A6l0RA) for the 45-minute window during which they’d like to shop. Just 10 shoppers will be allowed to enter the warehouse at one time.
A Flea Market representative will check to make sure that all prospective shoppers have preregistered. Those who haven’t done so will not be able to shop.
All shoppers will be required to wear a mask and should come prepared to take home all items that they purchase.
The Flea Market is Historic Macon's largest fundraiser of the year. Volunteers give hundreds of hours each year to collect, sort and price donations. Proceeds help Historic Macon fulfill its preservation mission.
