Flint Energies Offices Reopen for Business

Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Thursday, May 14th, 2020

Flint Energies lobbies are now open for business with special measures being taken to protect visitors and employees as the COVID-19 pandemic continues. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Members are encouraged to use drive-thru service or other electronic means of doing business whenever possible to reduce exposure risk.

As Flint Energies reopens its lobbies to the public, the Cooperative continues to closely monitor the latest developments regarding COVID-19 to ensure we are following the latest recommendations from local and state officials, including those measures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

As valued members of our electric cooperative, your safety is our priority. To reduce health risks for our Consumer-members and employees and to safeguard our operational and business continuity, Flint Energies is doing the following:

Installed clear acrylic sneeze guards in each Member Solutions Representative’s window.

Installed floor markers at least 6 feet apart in our lobbies and kiosk waiting areas to encourage social distancing.

Ensuring face masks, gloves, and cleaning and sanitizing products are distributed to our offices and available to our employees.

Cleaning and disinfecting our offices above and beyond normal procedures.

Requiring member-facing employees to wear masks and wash or sanitize hands frequently.

Flint Energies requests Consumer-members to follow the recommended social distancing guidelines within our offices. Please follow instructions as posted on lobby signage, floor markers and directional signs for your safety and others.

Most services can be handled remotely, reducing the need to visit a Flint office. Members are highly encouraged to conduct co-op business through our website, the Flint Energies mobile app or over the telephone. Our Member Solutions Department is available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and can be reached by email at [email protected] or by calling 1.800.342.3616. Members may download the Flint Energies mobile app from their device’s app store.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Flint Energies temporarily suspended service disconnections due to nonpayment of energy bills on April 3, 2020 for both pre-paid and traditional residential and commercial accounts. Although the Cooperative waived fees and suspended disconnects, this does not waive or cancel Members’ energy bills. Flint will resume disconnects for non-payment beginning June 1, 2020.

Members who have missed payments or have a past-due balance can be helped. Flint Energies has options available based on the Member’s account type, whether it is a traditional post-pay or a pre-paid account, also known as Pay Your Way.

“Regardless of your account type, if you are unable to pay your bill, please contact us as soon as possible but BEFORE June 1 to discuss making a payment or setting up a payment plan. You can reach us Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at 1-800-342-3616. Our Member Solutions Representatives are ready to assist you. We’re here for you,” says Marian McLemore, Vice President of Cooperative Communications.
