The Arc Macon is proud to announce the success of its 12th annual NYE Big Bash, Presented by WGXA.  Nearly 200 guests gathered at the Historic Macon Terminal Station to ring in the new year with the sounds of Macon’s favorite party band, The Grapevine. The organization’s largest fundraiser of the year, The Big Bash raised funds to support the nonprofit’s mission to empower people with differing abilities to live, work and thrive in Middle Georgia.

The event’s largest fundraising push focused on raising money to purchase a new lift van to make transportation more accessible for the adults supported by the organization. The need for accessible transportation within Middle Georgia is dire, as the organization does not receive any funding for transportation, forcing them to utilize their accessible lift vans well past the traditional vehicle life cycle. Many vehicles in their fleet are over 10 years old with well over 180,000 miles each. Without access to transportation, many of these individuals would not be able to access their community or live full, inclusive lives.

The Arc Macon proudly reports that they raised over $50k in net proceeds! The funds raised by this fabulous event allowed the organization to purchase a new Ford F350 Lift Van, which has now been delivered to its new home that serves four individuals in need of accessible transportation. This van replaced a 2002 Ford lift van with over 237,000 miles!
