Georgia DOT Awards Contracts for Three State Highway Resurfacing Projects in West Central Georgia

The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced it awarded contracts for three projects in District 3 (West Central Georgia region). The project bids were received on Dec. 20, 2019 and the contracts awarded to the lowest qualified bidders on Jan. 3, 2020.

The projects are:

Dooly County: the project involves resurfacing 3.422 miles of Georgia 27 from east of US 21/Georgia 7 to west of Liberty Church Road. The contract was awarded to Reeves Construction Company of Macon, Georgia for $562,000. The project is expected to be completed in the late fall of 2020.

Macon and Taylor Counties: the project involves resurfacing and shoulder rehabilitation of 16.534 miles of Georgia 128 from Georgia 90/White Water Road to Calhoun Street. The contract was awarded to Robinson Paving Company of Columbus, Georgia for $4 million. The project is expected to be completed in the late fall of 2020.

Sumter County: the project involves resurfacing of 4.3 miles of Georgia 27/Georgia 27 West/US 280 from US 19/Georgia 3 to east of Sun Valley Drive. The contract was awarded to The Scruggs Company of Hahira, Georgia for $2.3 million. The project is expected to be completed in the late fall of 2020.

The projects were three of 15 awarded statewide on Jan. 3, with the contracted amount for all 15 projects totaling $26,236,967.

The December awards bring the total construction contracts for Fiscal Year 2020 to $196 million. Fiscal Year 2020 began July 1, 2019.
