The tenth installment of the Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) Foundation’s Race for Education 5k and Fun Run presented by BB&T and Kumho Tire on Saturday, September 7, 2019, plans to be athletically challenging and exciting, but its organizers know that its longevity is a sole reflection of strong community support.

“We are so thankful for each donor, runner, volunteer and committee member who has put so much time and effort into this event over the last ten years,” said Mary Kathryn Borland, race coordinator and member of CGTC’s Advancement Division. “The College, its Foundation, and Adult Education Division welcomes their participation once again to help achieve adult education and literacy initiatives regionally.

The Race for Education is a fundraiser supporting Adult Education programs at CGTC. All proceeds from the Race for Education are utilized by CGTC’s AED, which provides GED® preparation and testing, basic skills classes, Accelerating Opportunities (AO), and college and career transition support. Held annually in September, the race celebrates National Literacy Month.

Registration will begin at 7:00 a.m. with scheduled start times of 8:00 a.m., and 8:30 a.m., for the 5K and Fun Run respectively. Day-of registration for the 5K is $30 and $25 for the Fun Run.
