Fairview Park Hospital is proud to announce the recipients of the annual Youth, Adult, and Chaplain Volunteer of the Year. Each year, this recognition is given to volunteers who have made an exceptional contribution to their area of service at Fairview Park Hospital.

The Youth Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Pooja Patel, a recent graduate and salutatorian of West Laurens High School. Patel has been an active volunteer since the summer of 2016, and has continued serving our patients and staff in the Women’s Center ever since. She has been recognized as a distinguished volunteer by the Women's Center department because of her professionalism and exemplary work ethic. The team is proud of Pooja and wishes her the best as she attends The University of Georgia to pursue a career in medicine.

The Adult Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Kaye Jones, who has served in the Fairview Park Hospital volunteer program since the beginning of 2015. Jones works weekly in Outpatient Physical Therapy assisting with administrative work and organizational tasks for the department. To date, she has logged over 800 volunteer hours, and has been an invaluable asset to the volunteer team here. She has been a joy to work with and is known by her servant heart, dedication, and kindness to those around her.

Chaplain of the Year was awarded to Reverend Otha Stanley, a veteran volunteer of nearly 10 years. As a second year consecutive recipient of this award, Rev. Stanley serves the patients and staff of Fairview Park Hospital with patience and dignity during each of his visits. Rev. Stanley's intentionality and wisdom is evident to all those around him as he helps to comfort patients and loved ones during their time of need. He continues to support his community as a local pastor, and helps to improve the chaplain program as it continues to grow from year to year.

The Youth & College Volunteer Program is available to students starting at age 15. Students serve a minimum of six hours monthly in various departments throughout hospital, in addition to assisting at special events at the hospital and in the community such as blood drives and Relay for Life. The Adult Volunteer and Chaplain Service is open to applicants 18 and older. Adult Volunteers may serve as greeters, assist in filing paperwork, and register incoming patients. Chaplains may make regular rounds visiting patients and their families, while also being available to provide comfort and guidance during some of the toughest days for our patients.
