Chris Floore, Assistant to the County Manager for Public Affairs, has been named a winner in Ragan and PR Daily’s Achieving Communications Excellence (ACE) Awards in the Government Communications/Public Affairs Professional category. Floore was chosen from a wide pool of entries to receive the top honor in this category for the ingenuity and impact on developing a public affairs and communications program for Georgia’s fourth-largest city and newest consolidated government, Macon-Bibb County.

“The Macon-Bibb consolidated government is an active and successful player in improving the entire community, and because of Chris’ engaging communication efforts and leadership, people have a much better understanding of that,” says County Manager Dr. Keith Moffett. “Our Public Affairs program informs the community, and it helps solve issues in our neighborhoods.”

Through the Office of Public Affairs, Chris leads a team striving to ensure residents have easy access to accurate and engaging information through a variety of channels. He manages media relations, strategic & crisis communication, video services, graphic design, a weekly e-newsletter and other channels, achieving ambitious goals despite budget and staff reductions. In emergencies like Hurricane Irma, Floore guided proactive and reactive communications to: ensure residents were prepared; evacuees and the agencies supporting them had their needs met; and crews were supported in their recovery efforts.

Ragan and PR Daily’s ACE Awards called upon the most innovative and driven communicators in PR and marketing to apply, and they celebrate the teams, organizations, and consultants who have redefined the field with their groundbreaking work. As a winner in the program, Chris joins an elite group of past winners, including Microsoft, Cisco, Ruder Finn, S&P Global, The Narrative Group, FirstEnergy Corp., and Save the Children.

This recognition follows several others earned by the Office of Public Affairs in the past year, including:

  • being in the Top 10 nationally for Customer Service by SeeClickFix for all of 2018, and being in the Top 5 for their quarterly recognitions in 2019;

  • two awards from PR Daily for the Women of Macon-Bibb Instagram Campaign and Public Affairs Annual Report;

  • four awards from the National Association of County Information Officers for the Public Affairs Annual Report, Solid Waste Service Change Infographic, Tropical Storm Irma Debris Collection Infographic, and for departmental logos; and

  • Floore being named one of the top three Government Communicators in the country by PRNews & National Association of Government Communicators, and included on ELGL’s annual Traeger List of Top Local Government Influencers for the third consecutive year.
