Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority, Robins AFB and CGTC Set to Make Major Economic Development Announcement on April 5th

A major economic development announcement will be made by the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority, Robins Air Force Base, and Central Georgia Technical College on Friday, April 5, 2019, at 10:30 a.m., for the take-off of a strategic workforce project to be housed at approximately 240,000 square feet of property at the Middle Georgia Regional Airport. The announcement will take place inside the former Boeing facility located at 1821 Avondale Mill Road in Macon.  
 
During the event, representatives from each organization will provide details on a new innovative workforce development approach to support Georgia’s thriving aerospace industry and workforce sustainment for related industries in central Georgia. Plans will be revealed for facilities, hangars, and classrooms as a co-location for workforce and training programs as a part of a first-of-its-kind project.
 
Leadership from each partner organization will address their involvement in workforce development and program relocation, and the possibilities expansion will create for the region’s aerospace industries and education programs.
 
State and local political leaders who played pivotal roles in the project’s development will be on-hand for the announcement. Senator David Perdue and Secretary Robert “Bob” H. McMahon, alongside Macon-Bibb County Mayor, Robert Reichert and Technical College System of Georgia Commissioner, Matt Arthur are confirmed speakers.
