Coliseum Health System Celebrates National Volunteer Month

Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Monday, April 15th, 2019

April is National Volunteer Month, and Coliseum Health System is celebrating by saying “Thank you” to their hospital volunteers at Coliseum Medical Centers and Coliseum Northside Hospital.  Coliseum Health System will recognize their volunteers at a luncheon on April 15.

Collectively, Coliseum Health System volunteers donated over 10,000 hours of their time in 2018. Throughout the year, volunteers for Coliseum Medical Centers and Coliseum Northside Hospital help with various hospital activities and raise money through vendor and gift shop sales. Funds collected in 2018 benefitted community charities and funded eleven $1,000 scholarships for local students who are studying in a healthcare-related field.

Lindsey Mote, Volunteer Coordinator for Coliseum Health System, said, “Our volunteers contribute so much to our hospital each and every day.  Whether it’s sharing a hug with someone who is sick, preparing coffee for tired family members, or helping a visitor navigate the hospital hallways, they always show true love and compassion to our patients and their families.  Coliseum is so grateful that they give back to the community through their volunteer work at the hospital.”

During the upcoming volunteer recognition banquet, Coliseum Health System will also announce the eleven students selected to receive the 2019 Coliseum Health System Volunteer Scholarship.

Coliseum Health System has many opportunities for anyone who may be interested in volunteering.  For more information, call the Lindsey Mote at (478) 471-6868.
