ACE Ladies’ Classic Powered by Butler Automotive Group Set for May 16th

Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

The United Way of Central Georgia is excited to announce the first annual Pink Promise United ACE Ladies’ Classic powered by Butler Automotive Group at Idle Hour Country Club on May 16th. It’s the first ever bridge, tennis and golf tournament in Central Georgia. United Way of Central Georgia’s affinity group, Women United, came up with the idea for the tournament after access to breast cancer awareness, education, and mammogram screenings had become a recent shortfall in Central Georgia. When the Susan G. Komen Foundation left Central Georgia a little over a year ago, that took about $100,000 in funding away from the community that provided access to care for uninsured, under-insured, and low-income women. That gap was one that Jaime Kaplan, United Way of Central Georgia Director of Philanthropy, couldn’t stand to go unfilled.

“We didn’t want people choosing between getting a mammogram and putting food on the table for their families,” said Kaplan. “Women often put everyone else’s needs before themselves and if we can help save lives by making sure their health is not a choice, that’s a difference I want to be a part of.”

United Way of Central Georgia has a lofty goal for this year’s tournament. The organization hopes to have over 200 participants in the tournament. Plus, through sponsorships and sign-ups, United Way of Central Georgia hopes to net $100,000 for Pink Promise United to immediately fill the void. The ACE Ladies’ Classic already has over a dozen sponsors. Plus, Butler Automotive Group has supplied a very generous sponsorship that has allowed the cause to get off to a running start.  All the money raised by Pink Promise United will stay here in Central Georgia.

The deadline to sign up for the Pink Promise United Ace Ladies’ Classic is May 1st.  Women can sign up for any of the individual sporting events. The event will conclude with an awards luncheon in the afternoon. If you are interested in registering for the tournament, you can sign up at www.UnitedWayCG.org/PPUtournament2019
