The Bibb County School District’s SOAR Academy has been chosen for a $1.1 million YouthBuild Grant from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration. This grant will be used for education in the field of construction for SOAR students.

“This grant recognizes the Bibb County School District’s outstanding work in educating and preparing students, especially at-risk students, for positive and productive futures for themselves, their families and the local communities,” according to a release from the office of U.S. Sen. David Perdue.

SOAR Academy, located at 2011 Riverside Drive, was one of just two locations in Georgia chosen for the grant. The school received the maximum amount available, with more than $85 million distributed nationwide.
