Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia Expands Program

Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Tuesday, March 19th, 2019

The Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia is expanding its programs to better serve the needs of the Middle Georgia area with the purchase of 6601 Zebulon Road, Macon Georgia, which is the former location of the Hephzibah Children’s Home. The Men’s Life Recovery Program will eventually grow from 36 men to 150 men. The Women’s Domestic Violence Program is expanding from seven women and their children to 50 women and their children and is adding programs for substance abuse as well as other life recovery issues.  This will make the Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia one of the only faith based programs in the state of Georgia that will allow women to seek help from substance abuse while keeping their children with them. Additionally, the Rescue Mission currently plans to continue serving the daily breadline downtown and holiday meals throughout the community.

This move is made possible by the generous support of the Rescue Mission board of directors, dedicated donors, and volunteers. “The decision to move has been prayerfully considered and we believe God is moving the Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia so He can reach a broader base for His kingdom” explains Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia President and CEO Pat Chastain. The Rescue Mission anticipates moving to the new location by the end of the summer 2019.  “Our board of directors has worked with Pat and his staff to find a solution to increase the ministry Christ is calling us to provide”, said Charlie Cantrell, Rescue Mission board chair.

The layout of the buildings, in addition to the 210 acres, is the perfect answer to the Rescue Mission’s vision to grow and create a larger healing environment through Christ. “For years it has been our dream and vision to expand both the Men’s Recovery Program and the Women’s Domestic Violence Program” says Pat Chastain

Hephzibah Children’s Home helped so many children over the years and now the Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia is grateful to continue doing God’s work on the property, and excited to be fulfilling its mission, “providing a path of hope, redemption and empowerment through Jesus Christ” to so many more men, women and children.
