Mercer University and Gordon State College recently signed a new transfer articulation agreement through 2023.

“Mercer University recognizes the importance of providing opportunities for students to achieve their educational and career goals,” said Dr. D. Scott Davis, Mercer’s provost. “We are excited to strengthen our partnership with Gordon State College and ensure a pathway for individuals to seamlessly earn a bachelor’s degree that will prepare them to make a positive impact in their professions and communities. Gordon State’s core values and dedication to student success align well with those of Mercer, and I am confident that our continued partnership and commitment will provide greater access for students to advance their education and fully prepare for career success.”

Under the terms of the agreement, an undergraduate student may first attend Gordon State College in Barnesville to complete an associate degree and then transfer to Mercer’s College of Liberal Arts, School of Engineering or Penfield College to complete a bachelor’s degree on the Macon campus, online or at one of University’s two Metro Atlanta area regional academic centers.

“This renewed partnership is one example of our commitment to ensuring students have the opportunity to pursue their dreams,” added Dr. Kirk A. Nooks, president of Gordon State, a unit of the University System of Georgia. “The Gordon-to-Mercer connection has always been in existence as we share some of our most notable alumni. We are thrilled to know that this partnership will be strengthened going forward.”

Eligible students may pursue bachelor’s degrees from Mercer in the areas of communication, computer science, criminal justice leadership, engineering, healthcare leadership, human resources administration and development, informatics, liberal studies, organizational leadership, psychology, theatre or visual arts.

Representatives of Mercer and Gordon State College gathered on the University’s Macon campus on March 25 for a formal signing of the agreement.
