Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Buzzell, Welsh & Hill recently announced a $2,500 scholarship to help the next generation of college and technical students realize their educational and professional goals. Buzzell, Welsh & Hill plans to award the scholarship to one student annually.

“We know it has become incredibly difficult for students to pay for the higher education they often need in today’s working environment,” said Stephen Welsh, Managing Partner at Buzzell, Welsh & Hill. “We want to help make it possible for anyone—no matter their financial circumstances—to achieve their professional potential.”

The scholarship will go to the winner of a short essay contest to create and write a law that would help reduce automobile accidents. In 500 words or less, submissions will need to explain the law, discuss how it would be implemented and enforced, detail the reasoning behind it and share expected results. Sourced statistics and data from websites, reports or articles may be included.

“As attorneys, we’re always conscious of the way new laws affect driver safety on the road,” Welsh added. “We expect that this contest will show us what’s on young drivers’ minds today—what’s concerning them the most and what they hope they, along with activists and lawmakers, may be able to change.”

Buzzell, Welsh & Hill attorneys and their designees will review the submissions and determine a winner based on the quality of sources used, originality and creativity of the content, as well as the applicant’s demonstrated potential for academic success. One applicant will be awarded a $2,500 scholarship for the Fall 2019 semester. The program is open to United States citizens or permanent U.S. residents who currently attend or plan to attend an accredited United States college, university or technical/trade school during the Fall 2019 semester.

The deadline to apply is April 30, 2019, at 9 a.m. EST. The winner will be announced on the Buzzell, Welsh & Hill website scholarship page and notified by email in June.
