Cox Communications’ commitment to give back to the communities it serves was evident again in 2018, as the company gave approximately $600,000 in cash and in-kind donations to non-profits, charities and government organizations in Middle Georgia.

“It is the culture of our employees to give back to our community, and we showed that again in 2018,” said Bonnie Lopez-Crowe, market vice president for Cox’s Middle Georgia service area. “Cox is a proud member of the Middle Georgia community, which is why we champion youth, education, environmental and diversity initiatives. We proudly support the communities we serve in an effort to make them successful.”

In 2018, Cox provided funds and services to numerous organizations including, but not limited to, Boys and Girls Clubs, Tubman Museum, Museum of Arts and Sciences, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Macon Arts Alliance, Historic Macon Foundation, Museum of Aviation, and many more.

Cox also continued to support local education and the business community with donations and support to Bibb County School District, Houston County Board of Education, Mercer University, Middle Georgia State University, Central Georgia Technical College as well as all chambers of commerce in Bibb, Houston, and Peach counties.

In addition to corporate donations, Cox Charities, a grant program funded entirely by Cox employees, donated over $8,000 to local non-profits and schools.  In 2018, over $3,000 was awarded to Heritage Elementary School and Howard Middle School, while 100 Women in Gold received a $3,000 grant, and the Heart of Georgia Hospice and Next Level Community Development Center each received a $1,000 grant.

Along with the monetary support, several Cox employees served on over 25 local nonprofit boards, giving their time back to the community on issues they feel passionate about.  Cox Middle Georgia employees also partnered with local nonprofits to provide over 1,000 hours of volunteer time in the community.

Cox also recognized over 20 students in Macon-Bibb County through its Cox Inspirational Student Hero Awards last Spring.  These students were chosen by their schools, as an inspiration to the staff and students at their respective school.  Whether it was overcoming a disability, tragic life event or other obstacle in life, these children were celebrated for their impact on others.
