Paw it Forward: Pets for Veterans Event November 17th at Georgia VECTR Center

In partnership with United Way and Mission United, the Veterans Education Career Transition Resource (VECTR) Center will present Pets for Veterans on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Center, located at 1001 South Armed Forces Blvd., Warner Robins, Ga., 31088. The event is free and open to the community.
 
The family-friendly event features discounted on-site pet adoptions available to veterans through local rescue organizations. Free pet vaccinations will also be available to veterans from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The general public rate is $10 for non-feline vaccinations and $20 for feline. Veterans and active duty military personnel must bring a DD214, military or retired identification, VA identification, or “veteran” designated driver’s license to be eligible for discounted adoptions.
 
Entertainment is also scheduled for the event, including performances by the Veterans High School pep band and General’s Cheerleading Team, as well as, demonstrations from service dog trainers, Freedom Fidos, Robins AFB K-9 Unit, Rutland Middle School Ag program, and more.  A DJ and bouncy house will round out the day’s fun.
 
Pets for Veterans will take place rain or shine. The VECTR Center encourages attendees to bring canned foods and new toys for the Middle Georgia Food Bank and Family2Family to benefit military and veteran families in need. Middle Georgia Community Food Bank will be supplying 400 Thanksgiving meal boxes to veterans and their families.
