On October 17th, Middle Georgia State University will serve as a host for On the Table -Macon. The event will welcome staff, faculty, students, alumni and community members to participate in conversations and share their ideas about our community.

On the Table is for everyone that considers Macon-Bibb County a place to live, work, or play.  The event will be held in the Student Life Center lobby at the Macon Campus of Middle Georgia State University from 2:30 pm to 5 pm and light refreshments will be served.

Community members can sign up for a spot at the MGA table at https://onthetablemacon.com/join-a-table/

On the Table is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to bring people of diverse backgrounds together to share a meal and have meaningful conversations about topics that are important to the community. This community-wide initiative seeks to explore the ways in which we have the power to collaborate in order to make our community stronger, safer and more dynamic.

“I think On The Table gives people the opportunity and the purpose of articulating concerns and having meaningful conversations about them so that we can move ahead, move beyond and move past them,” says Robert Reichert, Mayor of Macon-Bibb County.

Following On the Table, the Community Foundation of Central Georgia will survey participants to find out what issues matter most to them, and what kinds of ideas for solutions emerged from the day’s conversations.

Superintendent Curtis L. Jones Jr. of the Bibb County School District says, “My belief is the world would be better today if we had more people willing to find common ground, and from my perspective, On the Table allows us that opportunity.”
