Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

The Macon-Bibb County Parks & Beautification Department will announce its new Adopt-A-Park program and celebrate its first partner at a ceremony on Monday, October 15, at 4:00 p.m. The event will be held in Turpin Park (along Third Street between Poplar and Plum Streets) and will recognize Vein Specialists of the South, which adopted the park.

“This type of program shows people that these businesses are truly invested in the communities they serve and truly care about our quality of life,” says Parks & Beautification Director Sam Kitchens. “I want to thank Dr. Ken Harper and his team for approaching us and asking if they could help get this program up and running.”

“We have been downtown for nearly 20 years, and we’re excited about the energy and investment that’s going on, particularly in the last few years,” says Dr. Harper. “We want to do our part, partnering with Macon-Bibb, to be good stewards of our beautiful downtown parks.”

“Resources are often scarce, and parks are sometimes the first things forgotten. My message to other businesses is simple: adopting a park is an easy thing to do and a great way to invest in our community,” says Vein Specialists CEO Phillip Jones. “Partnering with Parks and Beautification is a win-win for both the city and our business.”
