The Technology Association of Georgia, the state’s leading association dedicated to the promotion and economic advancement of Georgia’s technology industry, has named Macon-Bibb County a Finalist for its 2018 Excalibur Awards.

The annual Excalibur Awards celebrate Georgia companies and organizations that have taken advantage of technology to conquer the competition. Winners will be selected from the finalists and announced at a ceremony on October 19 at the Georgia Aquarium (225 Baker St. NW in Atlanta).

Macon-Bibb County was selected from among a variety of applications submitted by companies and organizations from across the state. The project, MaconInsights, is the result of Macon-Bibb County’s adaptation of the concepts of open data, transparent government, and the growing interest and pervasive impact of the national Smart City movement.

“We are honored to be named a finalist for the 2018 Excalibur Awards,” said Brett Lavender Macon-Bibb County Chief Information Officer. “Our Information Technology Department – or MBIT as we call it – provides technology that empowers others to make data-driven decisions that trap costs, increase revenue, provide services and promote efficiency across our enterprise.”

“We are truly pleased to honor the recipients of the 2018 Excalibur Awards,” said Larry K. Williams, President & CEO of TAG. “TAG is fueling the innovation economy. In celebrating these tech-enabled companies and organizations, we strengthen our message of Georgia’s emerging position as a national leader in technology.”
