I-16/I-75 Interchange Improvement Project Continues Progress

Construction continues on the I-16/I-75 Interchange Improvement Project, with night utility crews scheduled to work in the coming week. 

Phase 2 and 3 - regarding the region from Hardeman Avenue to the I-16 eastbound exit: crews continue demolition of the Walnut Street bridge over I-75. Workers are still installing the structural framing for the future deck of the the Riverside Drive bridge over I-75. Crews are continuing excavation for a concrete box culvert along I-75 southbound between the Walnut Street bridge and Riverside Drive bridge. In the coming week, crews will continue building retaining walls along I-75 northbound and southbound. 

Phase I - regarding the region including I-16 from the I-75/I-16 split to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard exit: in the coming week, workers will continue work on the Martin Luther King, Jr. bridge over the Ocmulgee River, as well as the columns and structural framing for the future deck of the bridge along I-16 eastbound near Spring Street. They will also continue construction of retaining walls along I-16 eastbound between Spring Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. Crews will continue grading on the exit #2 on-ramp for I-16 eastbound and the Spring Street exit on-ramp for I-16 westbound. Construction in this region will require lane closures in the coming week on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard northbound and southbound for utility crew work at night.
