Sen. Larry Walker (R – Perry) was recently appointed by Lt. Governor Casey Cagle to serve on the Senate Study Committee on Continual Audit Exceptions on Local School Systems, the Senate Study Committee on the Excessive and Duplicative Regulatory Oversight of Community Based Intellectual and Developmental Disability, and on the Georgia Joint Defense Commission.

I believe that these study committees will be especially helpful this upcoming session as we tackle some of Georgia’s most pressing issues having to do with a wide range of topics – from audit regulations on schools to IDD provider procedures. This commission is a testament to Georgia’s dedication to ensuring our military installations thrive for years to come.”

The Senate Study Committee on Continual Audit Exceptions on Local School Systems was created by Senate Resolution 1064. The purpose of the study committee is to determine what legislation might be necessary to obtain compliance from local school systems that do not meet state audit expectations. Senate Resolution 506 creates the Senate Study Committee on the Excessive and Duplicative Regulatory Oversight of Community Based IDDs. The purpose of this study committee is to review the administrative audits, compliance reviews, service monitoring, quality assessments, and other duplicative certifications within community IDD providers. Sen. Walker was appointed to these study committees pursuant to Senate Resolutions introduced in the 2018 Legislative Session. A report of committee findings must be completed by December 1, 2018.
